Welcome and greetings from another Salem puller, and from folks that grew up in Illinois. Some might argue that we have not grown up yet.....But thats okay.

Just about an hour and a half North in the Quad Cities here. Lot of good places to go between here and there.

Since I have you "all" listening.... Where can I go on here to find some good travel routes (easy for a first time "long haul") truck stops for gassin up, lighter traffic, etc. I'm driving from central il to the panhandle for the first time. We've only had the TT out 5 times so far (freakin love it) but they've all been fairly short trips, 3-5 hours 3-4 days.

I guess I'm going to assume you're talking about the Florida panhandle. We're partial to the SP's in Florida, and we've stayed at few up in that area. Of course, it depends on where your destination will be. I can't help you regarding the stops on the way, as we've never taken that direction on our trips up to MO.

We've been goin there for years. Usually to 30a and The area. This year were staying in Navarre at Emerald Beach RV. We've always gotten condos before but now we've got the TT!! Can't wait!!

Welcome from Southern California! Great choice on the Salem TT. My suggestion would be to keep it simple while you determine your camping style. It is so easy to get wrapped up in getting everything & anything right away only to find out it won't be used. If you encounter a problem at the campground ask another campsite neighbor for help. RVers are usually pretty friendly and willing to help especially someone new to RVing.

Thanks!
We spent last summer "learning" - planning our first "long haul" in four weeks (Illinois to Florida panhandle) it's a drive I've made plenty of times just never with 7000 pounds of TT behind me. So I'm trying to take the "best" route, for gassing up and least steep grades (if any of that makes sense) - still tying to avoid backing up if I can!!!
We've had the best times camping and it's just getting better now that we have the "rolling condo"!!!
