Welcome and congrats on your new Clipper.
I was in the UP last week (RT2 east from Big Mac to Iron Mountain and back with a layover in Manistique).
The rest of your snow should be gone soon with the warmer temps this week!
It's looking like camping soon.

Spent over 45 winters in the U.P., but that's over for now. We bought a second home in Casa Grande, Az. to be warm all year long. But now I need to find a new hiding place for my house key in Chassell. That way Youroo or Turbs will have to shovel the driveway and sidewalk to the house to find what rock I hid it under.

Welcome and I do have questions! My woman and I are looking into spending a week up there next summer. I spend nearly all winter up in Newberry/Pine Stump/Grand Marais area snowmobiling and have seen pretty much all of the UP over the 30 years that I have been snowmobiling. However, I've never been camping up there so I'm lost in that aspect. We'd like something north/centrally located so we can maybe take a day trip to copper harbor or the Soo. I'd also like to have full hookup, if possible. I welcome your suggestions!

UP Camping
Hey ChevyTech We only camp at state parks. They have elec.,water available and dump stations. Excellent campsites in all. Contact www.michigan.gov/dnr and they will send you a brochure with all there services. Our favorites are Brimley to the east. The Straits to the south and Porcupine Mts the west. Why we like these would take up to much forum space. If you would like more info send me a private message and I'll get back to you. The UP has no bad parks. Happy camping..CAPTJIM

In Marquette the Tourist park a city FHU park, Country Village FHU in Ishpeming, Houghton & Hancock have FHU cg, and a state park and a private FHU cg in Copper Harbor are all nice campgrounds. Then a lot of nice state parks w/ electric and water& sewer as you enter the park.
If you need details about the western U.P. of Michigan PM me, I live just south of Houghton.

I heard the Grand Marais cg is first come first serve. No reservations. My son goes during the week to get a weekend site.
