Not sure what your Tennessee winters are like, where I am we get down to -45c at times but average -20c to -30c.

A lot or most of us up here in Canada don't put them down due to the ground freezing and the soil/gravel heaving upwards (now trying to lift the trailer) which can overload the "stabilizer" jacks. Stabilizers are usually not meant to take the weight of the trailer. The ground can lift more in some spots than others as close to 2 or 3 feet apart due to soil conditions and water content.

Tongue jack, yes, you do leave that supporting the trailer, it's capable of supporting upwards of 4000# depending on the model.
