Hello from a Newbie.

Hey everyone! Glad to be on this new journey in my life as a brand new RV'er. Just bought my very first one 3 weeks ago. My wife and I have taken up trail riding with our Sportsmen quad and decided we needed a toyhauler. So, we are proud owners of a 2011 Forest River Wolf Pack 27DFWP toyhauler. Love the rig, hate having to learn all the ins and outs, of RVing. But that's why I am here. Always looking for good tips advice and help to keep from encountering bad stuff while trying to enjoy the experience. Thanks for having me in the group, looking forward to gleaning knowledge from all you seasoned travelers! THANKS! Mike.

Welcome aboard Mike and wife.

The below is a copy and paste, and I usually recommend it to those just starting out. Some of it, you may already know, or may not be applicable to your particular RV. You will be able to filter out what pertains to your situation or not. I would suggest you read the electric threads and energy management first, and then the converter thread. This will help explain your different electrical systems of your RV, and how they operate...as well as what the converter does. The very first link will explain what operates off what system.

You can just peruse at your leisure:

Wiring a 30 amp outlet. Make sure you or your electrician know that this is a 120 volt outlet ONLY:

Basic electric:

RV Electric

Your very important converter:

RV Converters and Amp Draw - RV Information (RV Maintenance)

Suburban water heater (if applicable to your RV):

Water Heater bypass/crossover valves:

And the newest addition to help understand what constitutes a true full cylinder in refilling vs exchanging propane cylinders

Hope this helps.

You can just read at your leisure. I also just edited the post to add the part about installing a 30 amp outlet at your house. This is important for you to know that your RV is only 120 volts and should never be directly connected to an outlet that is 240 volts only. We have many new RV'ers who install or have an electrician (who doesn't know better) wire up a new outlet at their house with 240 volts, and damage the RV. They see that 3 prong 30 amp RV plug and incorrectly assume it's 240 volts....which it is not.

You may want to print that one out (it's a pdf) and just have it in case you ever do have a dedicated 30 amp outlet installed at your house. I think I remember you having a 30 amp RV from your other thread on the non working gfci.
