Hello from a Newbie in Michigan

Rented a travel trailer last year to take the kids out while my wife was out of town. My kids had an awesome time and couldn't stop talking about it. The kids are now 5 and 7 which I think is a perfect age to get them started. This year my wife decided to go with us so we set up another Wildwood travel trailer rental. We'll before we even went camping with the rental I set up 2 more camping weekends. So now we decided to just buy a new one and go for it. We picked up a 2014 Wildwood 30QBSS. We are starting out in RV Resorts to ease my wife into it them hope to see a bunch of the Michigan State Parks next year.

Looking forward to learning a lot on here

Jason

Welcome to camping and the forum, from one Michigander to another! Been camping since I was 3 months old, makes it 50++ years? Your kids will have so many memories. Michigan has wonderful State Parks! You are going to love them. While camping in those resorts, drive to a state park and perform some recon. Have to tell you the people on this forum have to be some of the greatest out there! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new Wildwood.

You'll find some very knowledgeable and friendly folks on here who will be able to answer almost any question you may have.

At 5 and 7, your kiddos are the perfect age to get started. Hope you have great adventures.

You're going to make wonderful memories with your family. My wife and I camped with our 4 children from the time they were in diapers until they moved on with their own lives and we cherish those times. I just joined this forum myself, but welcome from one Newbie in Michigan to another.

Welcome and enjoy!
I actually love the Michigan State Parks, but we're seasonal at a resort now. Never wanted to leave when we were camping, so picked one to call our home for the summer. We love it! The little houses (campers) offer big fun and memories.
Our resort also has room for casual vacationers too!
It's near Jackson, Mi. There's lots to do for the kids. Check it out:

Welcome to FRF!!

Our first trailer trip was 4 state parks on the lake shore of lower Michigan.
We enjoyed them all!
One thing to keep in mind, we found the locals filled camp grounds on
weekends.
You probably need reservations if you're going to parks in prime time
especially on weekends.

Our favorite was Ludington State park. It has 3 campgrounds!
One on the lake shore, one in the pines, one on an inland lake.
It had miles of paved walking/bike paths, canoe rental, paddle boats,
small lake dam with spill way that was nice and noisy. Hiking on the
dunes and a beautiful light house that you can go up to the top in.
What a view!!
My cap is off to Michigan state parks system!!
We'll go back there one day!

Welcome fellow Michigander!!!! We stay all over the state and enjoy it very much, our kids are noe grown but on occasion the come and visit us. A bunch of the state parks are nice, make sure you make reservations 6 months ahead of time as it is hard to get them on the weekends spur of the moment. I fyou have any questions feel free to ask as someone will give their 2 cents for an answer!!! Usually it is a good answer!! Again Welcome
