Hello from another Illini

Hello from southwestern Illinois (20 miles from St. Louis). We have been RVers for a year and just purchased a new 2019 Coachmen Mirada 35LS. Prepping for a trip to Utah in about 10 days with grandkids. Looking forward to the trip and sharing ideas/fixes with all our fellow owners on the forums.

Thanks Brian and Becky. I just finished mowing my very brown grass hoping that you guys will send a couple of your thunderstorms north. We are leaving in a few days for Utah and I'm afraid by the time we get back it will look more like my former yard in Tucson than the one I have nurtured in Illinois for the last twenty years.

Wayne, I know what you mean. We're dry here too, at least where I am. Most all the storms down here have just skirted by either side of us. Was some weather moved through last night, and on Radar, it looked like we were going to get a little shower, but not a drop hit the ground here. We're burning up too... the only thing thriving right now is the crabgrass in the garden.

We finally got some rain last night and it has been raining off and on this morning. Hopefully, it is not finished yet.

On another note - getting ready to leave to take the new MH to the dealer to get a couple of issues (discovered on my shake-down cruise to KY last week) taken care of before the western trip. It's mostly just adjustments to make things work better, but one of them, my L-Sofa, caused a bigger issue. It is supposed to latch closed when retracted before putting the slide in and heading down the road. It doesn't latch properly and sometimes flies out while traveling. After getting home and leveling the unit so I could extend the slides to make it easier to unload, I discovered the L-Sofa had torn a big hole in the flooring and there was a loose screw laying on the floor right where the tear was, so I have to get them to look at that too.

We pick up our new TT in about 6 days I think (next Monday). I can't wait, LOL. Like a little kid.

They said they may need to put a temp fix on it today, then get the flooring guy here to do a permanent job after our western trip.

I know you are going to enjoy your new TT. Jo and I have discovered that since we are retired a lot of other people think, "Since they aren't doing anything, we can use them for whatever and schedule their time for them." We have found we need to be very protective of our schedules and very deliberate in planning our RVing schedule.

Thanks DD. Looks like you couldn't decide between Champaign and Decatur, so just stopped halfway between. I think that was a good choice.

Kind of, I work in Champaign but we have kids and wanted an area with good schools so it was either Monticello or Mahomet. Been here for 3 years now, we're transplants from California.

One of our sons lives in Sherman Oaks and works in Burbank (Warner Brothers), so we try to get to CA at least once a year. We drove the motorhome out there in December. We stayed at East Shore RV Campground in San Dimas. It is a very nice RV park.
