Hello From British Columbia

Hey All

Not retired yet, few more years to go (too many to count) but the wife and I have purchased a 2011 36RE 5th wheel to live in full time. It is just the two of us....kids are all moved out and we wanted to down size from our large house. Drastic move some might say but we have been planning and researching this for some time.

We were looking at another 5th wheel model but this unit came alone with all the bells and whistles that we were looking for!!

For now we are going to be fixed to one location but plan on some nice long warm trips south when the winter gets too cold up here.

Puff and Crickit

I'll explain the nick names later

Welcome Glen & Robyn.
We just finished two weeks of boonie camping in your area on Fry Lake.
We have camped four weeks this year in your back yard and love it.
Again welcome to the forum.

To the forum

We live in Sechelt, BC, from our house we can see Mt Washington across the Georgia Strait, I guess we could see Campbell River if Texada Island was not in the way.

We were camping in Campbell River at Thunderbird RV Park near the Tyee club just 3 weeks ago.

We, like you, want to escape to warmer climes for the winter, so November we are heading south and will end up in Arizona for Christmas and New Year.

Good luck with your full timing and your new rig, where is your base?

We did chat with a couple who lived in Campbell River, they were in an older 5th wheel and next to us, they had their kids visit with a baby, we were on site #54 beach side on left as you enter. Can't remember their names though.

We leave Ont. and head to Nanaimo BC for the winter. The weather is not that cold and our Canadian health care is in place. Last winter we had about 45 snowbird trailers at the park. 5 couples were from Ont. with some from the other 3 prairie provinces. There were a large number from norther BC. Most of the snowbirds were in BC because of health issues had a problem purchasing out of country health care.

Terry & Janet Interesting, a couple from here are going to Gibson's Landing. You must be in Northern Ontario if it's that cold where your are. We are in Northwestern Ontario and will be off to Texas in January. I was looking at the temperatures in Nanaimo and they average between 31C to 47C in February.

John we live in eastern ON. We are a hour south of Ottawa. The temp. here in the winter are too cold to live in a trailer all winter. Plus we get a lot of snow. All the couples that were from ON at Living Forest last year were from the southern part of the province.

So thought I would add.

Puff and Crickit were the names the wife and I use in a motorcycle club. My nick name came from work in that I am not a powder "puff".....a.k.a. I am a big guy..! The wife....well she rubs her legs in her sleep hence Crickit..!

Now that your laughing and have spilled your coffee, have a great day..!
