We used this forum to help in our decision to buy a trailer, and I joined the forum after we bought an a122s hardside. We picked it up a couple weeks ago, and it's been in storage since! But we have booked a campsite for 2 weeks from today for the inaugural trip. We're excited, but a bit nervous.
We moved from a tent to a platform Nick made for the old Odessey a few years ago. When it was time to sell the van, we didn't think our old platform would work, but we couldn't go back to tenting. So here we are!
Can't wait to get first trip out of the way. So much to learn!
Any tips about loading up?

Welcome to the site, Movin up.
You'll love the A-frame once you get it in commission.
Where are you headed for that maiden voyage?

Dinosaur Provincial Park. It's close by, so good for a weekend trip. Also, not too many trees and pretty open sites. We're hoping. It won't be too challenging to back in to!

Ah. Neat country.
As far as backing into sites, I've always found it's not the curves, corners and obstacles that make it difficult...it's the grinning yahoos standing there watching you.
Things in your trailer will move around while in transit. I try to wedge things into place as much as possible using sleeping bags, etc.
If you've got something heavy in there, try to secure it right over the axle (or, better yet, keep it in the t/v.
Once you've got a trip or two behind you, loading up will be second nature.
*make sure of the latch on your fridge door*
(trust me on this )

Welcome Cath & Nick! Sounds like an exciting weekend planned! In the meanwhile, if you havent restowed/transferred your desired camp gear, nows agood time to start! I would sit in my hardside TH and 'pretend' in my head - go thru the motions of what I needed and where I wanted it that made sense to me (for workability). Sounds like you picked a great place to go for first time trip...open and less challenging to back up (no trees means one les item to worry aboit smashing into. LOL) Come visit the A frame sub forum - you'll get trailer specific pointers for packing/organizing, user hints, etc.
