Hello from Central California

Hi everyone.
My wife and I just purchased our first new, but second overall, trailer...a 2016 Rockwood Windjammer 3006WK.
My wife and I are both teachers, she teacher elementary school, I teach high school psychology and culinary arts. I am a classically trained chef as well. We have two kids, a son 14 and a daughter 12.

I look forward to picking your brains and learning all I can.

Thanks,
Chef

Welcome from TX. Looked at the floorplan on your new Windjammer. That should serve your family well.

Being a chef, did the outdoor kitchen influence your choice?

Do you have a 1st trip planned?

What are you towing with?

Thanks everyone.
We live in the city of Turlock, CA
Turlock is near Modesto, and sits almost center between Fresno, Sacramento, and San Francisco.
Our first trip besides the quick weekend trips will be a 14 day excursion to the Grand Canyon, Vegas, and anywhere in between.

My tow rig is a 2001 F-350, 7.3 ltr diesel, 4x4, 6" lift and leveled.
Picking up trailer today along with the Blue Ox Sway Pro system.

We are taking the trailer out to a campground about 1 hour from here to test everything out. Fingers crossed.
Also, the outdoor kitchen had no impact in the decision to buy this trailer. Kids loved trailer, wife loved trailer, in-laws loved trailer, I liked trailer.
Happy wife = Happy Life

Hello and welcome from former Sacramento residents now in northern Arizona since 2003. We're only 2 hours s/w of the Grand Canyon; wave hello as you drive by the Prescott exit on I40!
Congrats on the new trailer! We looked at the Windjammers at the last RV show we went to and really liked them; not that we can afford anything else just yet nor do we really want to as we really love our Surveyor.
Happy Camping!

More than enough tow vehicle for sure. Quick question that could lead to more... Did you get the 3rd TV option in the main bedroom?

BTW, same as JudiVan, we also bought ours at Best RV there in Turlock, their lot and number of trailers were bigger than some of the RV shows we hit...

Best RV is where we purchased our new trailer. Could not beat the price. $4k cheaper than nearest competitor for same make/model.
Plus, we live about 5 minutes from Best RV. Made it convenient.

We did not go with the third tv option because they didn't have one on the lot with it already set up. I wish they had it available. I'm planning on figuring out a way to add a scissor mount to the outside of the clothes closet, above the little table. The problem is there is no stud running down the side of the closet. I may need to add a vertical stud, then fix bracket to that stud. Could be a crash and burn.

Has anyone added the Furrion rear camera that is offered? I found one online for about $350. I'm debating on getting it. I'm sure I can install it myself.
I am unsure how much the dealer is asking for the camera.
I'm also wondering about the solar, is it worth it?

Furrion makes two models, one is for backup and the other is for observation. I believe the product numbers end in 12 and 48. You will see lots of complaints of the backup (12) being used for observation purposes. I purchased the observation camera (48) for my Roo and like it so far.

I also purchased from Best RV. I work in Modesto and live in Manteca.

We got our latest TT from Best in March. When I asked about the camera, I was told they did not sell it...seemed odd at the time.

Their selection is overwhelming and they are very much in the business of selling RV.

We've had no problems with our rig at all and did our shake down at French Camp in the rain. We will be taking our 4th trip at the end of the month up to Olema near Pt. Reyes.

Good luck with your shake down trip!

Cheers!

I purchased it from Amazon. I would check to make sure your unit has the Furrion bracket first. Most do but some don't.
