Smile Hello from Central Virginia

I posted last night in a different thread under Motorhomes, but thought I would drop a post here too. I am sure the forum administrator loves posts! I know I do on my forum, but that's mainly for drag racing.

Anyway, I was over on another forum for quite a bit of time for the last year or so, and it seems that we were cool while we owned the '90 Pace Arrow, but just as soon as we moved up to the 2007 Georgetown SE, well we suddenly lost our coolness. Isn't that interesting? Not sure what happened there, but I don't lose any sleep over it either.

We actually haven't "camped" per se but hope to this coming summer. We normally use our motorhome to tote our drag car to the strip and when we have the chance for a long weekend at the track, it sure makes it nice! Other than normal weekends, our next big race is down in Bristol, TN. Our Georgetown is a 315 DS unit that really makes towing a piece of cake. In fact , since we're not ones to really put a lot of baggage into the motorhome, it actually rides a lot better when it's hooked to our trailer. Power and performance are good, although I keep hearing about the upgrades that Ford made to the F53 chassis for 2008 and I am envious.

If any of you ever get to a drag race event in this part of the country and you spot a skull and crossbones flying from the trailer, come on by and say hello! ~Charlie

Welcome to the FRF. We don't care what you own. Glad to have you aboard.

What part of Central Virginia are you in? I'm in Lynchburg.

Welcome. I live in SW VA. Always nice to hear from our fellow RV travelers. I have been to the Bristol drag strip many times when I was a teenager, yes that was many years ago. I still have an appreciatiion for the power and precision of the vehicles, the increase in speed through technology has been awesome, I remember when it was something when they broke 200 mph, now look at the speed and elapsed time, tremendous. I am also glad for the improvements in safety also.

Glad your MH makes an easy pull for your dragster.

Enjoy your travels and FRF

Phil

We live just north of Richmond, been out here for about 30+ years after growing up mostly in Richmond, but I am a Carolina boy - that's where my heart always is and also where one of my children is located.

And thanks for the hello. I don't really care what anyone has myself, I have seen a lot of really neat tricks and home brewed engineering on some older rigs that is mighty impressive!

You're not kidding on that. Until last year it had been about 30 years since I had visited Bristol, I almost couldn't believe I was at the same racetrack. The place is fantastic and the people they have working there are some of the nicest I have ever met and did a great job.
