Like many before us, we are following the well-trod upgrade path from tent -> pop-up -> hybrid.
We were tent campers for 10+ years, most of that spent in a ultra-light tipi w/ wood-burning stove that I bought specifically for backpack hunting in Colorado. The whole set-up including stove and tent weighs under 10 lbs and we've spent many nights exploring Colorado's beautiful scenery in it
. DS' first experience with camping started in that tent when he was 1 1/2.
After many years in a floorless shelter, we purchased a pop-up, a beautiful Fleetwood Sun Valley ('Mac'). DS was the most difficult to convince since in his mind, it's not real camping unless it's in a tent.
Needless to say, the DW was more easily persuaded.
Our second summer with 'Mac', we discovered Disneyworld. We pulled 'Mac' from Colorado to Florida and back, enjoying 9 days inside the bubble that is Disneyworld. That trip convinced us that we needed something that we could use on the way to a destination, hence our decision to purchase a hybrid. After much research, we decided on a 233s.
On Monday, we will be closing on a purchase of a 2016 233s from House of Camping in Chicago. We're super excited and have learned a lot from this forum. There is a stack of upgrades waiting for it when we get home, including poles and brackets from TURBS.
We are looking forward to many years of enjoyment and hope to contribute as much to the forum as we have received.
