Hello from Door County, WI

Hello,
We are the owners of a new 2015 Rockwood 2109s going to spend our first night in it this weekend! found the best deal at RVW Chicago While the 4 hour drive to pick it up was long, we had a fun family day and really like our new camper. Anyone interested in Door County camping is welcome to message me for recommendation on camping on the door peninsula. Anyone that is aware of campgrounds in Wisconsin where you can camp right on a lake or river, I would appreciate suggestions. The Apple River Family campground gave us the best on the water experience we have found so far! nothing like fishing from your campsite!

Welcome!

We often camp in Door County and Peninsula. Great area! We'll be up there again for two weeks over the fourth of July. Gets a little busy but my kids love camping there at that time of year. Besides, my folks have a place in Fish Creek so they get to visit.

What part of Door are you from?

I spent a couple college summers during the early 70's tending bar in Fish Creek.

We're leaving next Friday and camping at the wagon trail campground in Ellison bay. It'll be our first trial of our new 2015 HW 276.

Hello and Welcome,
We have been talking about camping in Door County. We tent camped a couple of times a long time ago at Penninsula state park. We're thinking that if we are camping for 5-7 days we would like something with a full hookup. Any campground suggestions would be appreciated.

We stayed at Wagon Trail twice last fall. Great place. I think it changed ownership over the winter though. Interesting to hear your experience when you return.

Don't forget to walk over to the bakery for a pastrie and coffee in the morning.

Grandma's Swedish Bakery

The bowling alley in town has a nice Friday fish fry.

The even numbered sites in the 500 loop were the best for us. If you have a dog, the ladies in the camp store have treats for them along with coffee in the morning. Nice people.

Its funny you mention new owners. This Saturday the new owners are having a party for the outgoing owners. Unfortunately Grandma's Swedish Bakery does not open untill next weekend
I do plan on taking my kayak on the Mink River for some bass fishing it also happens to to a great spot for fly fishing for bass and easy pan fish fishing for the kids.

Ellison Bluff State Natural Area Is a really fun and beautiful place very close to where your staying. It has a lookout point that goes out over the bluff (dont go to the end if your afraid of heights) Cave Point park is also a must see, has a great picnic area and waves crashing on the rock face have carved out caves, while you cant go in them the water makes a fantastic show when its windy. Golf courses, where to start! Horseshoe bay is the elite gold course in door county located just south of Egg Harbor its a tournament style course you wont want to miss. The closest to you will be Bay Ridge in Sister Bay, its a very nice course but a bit more simple. For just a fun time Cherry Hills I like to call it the largest mini golf course around featuring a par 3 where you tee off what seems like 100' above the green, just an all around fun course. I don't want to take anything from any of the courses though you cant go wrong with golf up here and I believe there will be 7 courses within a 45 min drive of your campground!!

We had a great first outing with the new camper, everything worked perfectly and the campground (Wagon Trail) was fantastic!!! we had a premium site (500's) its about the most private site you could ever ask for from a campground. My son even go to see a raccoon (lock up your stuff lol)

Glad to read about your positive experience at WagonTrail. I recently found a map of the campground. We thought sites 519, 516, 515, 514, 512, 510, 508, and 506 were the best available to the general public in the campground. The higher the number, the closer to the new shower room. When we stayed at site 506, we used the older shower room.

When we last visited, we saw a porcupine while taking a late evening walk with the dog.

WagonTrail does not seem to have many sites with sewer but when we last visited, the tank empty service seemed to be working most everyday. I thought there was a small fee for this service.
