Smile Hello from Florida panhandle

Never owned a travel trailer before and are about locked in on a new 19FD. I have a new Colorado pick up with V6 and towing package. We're just pondering on where to buy. We can get a much better deal off the internet than the local dealer. I plan to run the best deal I can find by the local dealer and see what they say. Appreciate this site and I'm sure I will try and do everything wrong at first since everything will be new to me. This forum and other helps I can find will hopefully stop some major mistakes. I need a Forest River for Dummies section started. Again thanks for the forum and plan on being a frequent flyer here.

as you read on you will find that most owners feel like the dealers are in it for the money and don't care much about you once you leave the door...

be a pain in the ass to the dealer and spend as much time examining the unit and having things explained to you as to how they work and take copious notes...

once you hand over the check and drive away, assume you are on your own, except for this forum...

get the best deal for the lowest dollar and as close as you can... plan on camping on the lot for a day or two looking over the whole rig before committing to anything... then get a price and try to beat it on the internet... then come back with a lower offer and tell the dealer to beat it...

Welcome from Georgia. Maybe I am different, but I prefer a personal experience with a real person/dealer. We got that with Three Way Camper in Marietta, GA.

I am so glad I bought from a local dealer. The dealer RVone in tampa sent techs to me for two issues with my Rockwood. Since RVone has 5 dealers and also a internet sight I believe I get a pretty good deal. I can't imagine dealing with an internet dealer after the sale.
