Hello from Illinois!

So happy to have found this forum! Thank you for the warm welcome.

I'm a proud owner of a new 2017 Forest River Grey Wolf 27RR. We've camped twice locally since January and now we are preparing for a big trip out west to Utah in April. Anyone drive thru the mountains with this big rig? We are pulling it with our RAM 1500.

Looking forward to being a part of this community!

Welcome from upstate NY. We haven't pulled in the Rockies (yet), we're heading to the Grand Canyon in Sept. I'm sure someone here has a set up similar to yours, and can answer your question. Good luck and God Bless

Congrats on your new RV. Stay safe and enjoy your camping days. I have never been across the Rocky Mountains, but drove WV mountains a number of times and crossed the smoky mountains a number of times.
Keep off the brakes as much as possible and let the engine slow you down. Keep the speed down coming down the mountain. Pull off if on a long down grade and check how warm you wheels are. If your wheels are hot, your brakes are going to be hotter.
Make sure your tow vehicle has extra cooling on the engine and transmission. Make sure your brakes are in good condition.
When I towed my trailer I had extra gauges installed to keep an eye on the temp of transmission and engine. Going up hill watch the gauges and if starting to get hot, pull over to let your rig cool down.
Enjoy the trip and be safe.

That's a lot of trailer for a 1500.
