Hello from Illinois!

Hi all! We are unsure where to post questions so we are doing it here....if this isn't right, please let us know. We have never owned a camper/RV before. We are considering a Sunseeker 3170DS. What options are must haves when purchasing a new motorhome? Hydraulic leveling? Better antenna? Also wondering if there are things to watch out for when buying new from a dealer? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum! Hydraulic leveling would be on my list. Get prices from several dealers, ask to see their service departments and look to see how things are being done. Read and post questions on the Sunseeker thread to get as much info as possible.

Sunseeker thread? I'm computer illiterate. We are in the Quad Cities. Can you buy new from somebody other than a dealer? Or are you just saying be careful which dealer?

The Cheyenne Camping Center in Wolcott, Iowa is pretty close to you and has some of the best prices in the nation. I was able to use one of their adds to my local dealer to "almost" match their price.

They unfortunately don't sell Forest River. I haven't seen any Forest River dealers in the QCA.

Welcome to the forums. I am also from the QC. Given that this will be your first camper/rv I would highly recommend taking your time and doing lots of research. Not sure what time frame you are looking at making a purchase, but I would recommend visiting lots of dealers (there are 4 in the Iowa QCA with 2 of them being FR dealers.) I would also recommend going to the Rv show in Feb, I think at the QCA Expo center and looking around. There is also one in Peoria around the same time with a different selection of dealers.

Read through the forums here, look at floor plans, determine needs, wants, and nice to haves. You might also want to look at used to see if this is something you really want to do or consider renting for a week or two (a couple of the dealers will rent).

Most of all ask lots of questions. Like Turbs I am on my second purchase from Cheyenne and have been very happy with them. You never know they might be able to order something for you.

Good luck and welcome.
