Smile Hello from Indiana

Bought our first 5th wheel this summer and I am full of questions. The main one right now is, we are wanting to make sure that our roof has the right protection. what do we need to do? we are thinking that we need to put on Dicor acrylic and primer? Will I need to do this once a year or more?

Welcome to the forum from mid California - Enjoy. Congrats on the 5th wheel purchase is it new or used?

I am not roof specialist but there are many expeienced people on this forum that are going to jump right on this with great advise. Once you answer the above question (new or used) several bits of info will be asked of you so you may as well get on now, that is what is the TT, model, year, where has it been ie in storage rotting or in continuous use (if used) and well cared for. Have you inspected the roof and what did you see, are there any cracks at the joints or where sealant has been applied around vents etc on the roof. Pictures are always helpful.

roof treatment

I asked the dealer service dept what they use when you bring it in for them to do the job.....I bought the product they use on roofs from them....and follow the instructions on the container....I treat my roof spring and fall....good luck

We have a 2001 Sandpiper. It has been very well cared for, Stored inside. My husband has been up on the roof and checked all the all vents and seal, he seen a few very small cracks.

Congrats on the Sandpiper.

Give your roof a good cleaning you can pick up the cleaner from an RV store (or search this forum for a home mix using the search box at the top of the page) and follow with a protective coating depending on what type roof you have rubber or other (this should be done every few months). As far as the cracks clean the old Dicor real good and apply a layer of new Dicor self leveling sealer over the cracks, if there are layers already on there you can scrape off the old and start with a new layer (again do a search you will find this topic listed several times with pictures and such to help).
