Hello from Maryland

Hello everyone. Just like to say I like reading forums but sometimes it can get a little overwhelming.I have been doing research for over two years on what type of TT my family and I are wanting to buy.I will soon be a first time buyer. I am originally from Georgia but now live in Maryland and made this my home. I served 11 years in the Army. I got out back in 2005 and been a federal contractor since. My family loves camping but it is finally time to step up our game (lol). So I look forward to reading your post and getting your ideas and opinions. My heart is set on a 2017 Salem hemisphere 300BH. But I think it may be a wee bit to long. Ill save that for my next post.

Thanks,
Aries

Welcome to the forum neighbor. We are in silver spring. Just 10 miles north of the White House. I like your choice. We are nowhere near that size yet as I'm still many many years from retirement. Our pop up works good for us now. . Enjoy the site. Lots of great people here with boatloads of information and knowledge. Travel safe. Mark

Welcome from Houston!
I know what you mean by "too long". Our 28' Windjammer is our first TT. After we bought it and the service department pulled my truck out with it attached my first thought was "WHAT HAVE WE DONE?!" Not too bad that first trip to the storage space, but then I had to back it in.
After our first trip, and backing a few times, I am finally getting used to it. The nicest part is that we don't feel cramped! Glad that we sacrificed my nerves for a little elbow room.
Thank you for your service - happy camping!

Welcome from BC.
Good luck in your search.

We have made the decision to buy a smaller unit as it opens up so many more options in where we can take it.

Welcome to the forum! My home base is Hagerstown also. Been there for 31 years but right now I am on the road in Valdosta Georgia. Probably will be home for the holidays but will be back here until the spring time.
BTW Army vet here also. Vietnam 1970 -1972. Thanks for your service!

Welcome from NC. Thank you for your service. My dad retired from the army out of APG and moved to Bel Air when I was in middle school. You might want to do a forum search in the dealers section for the dealers in MD. I believe there are some on Chesaco and a few others.

Yep your right there are four dealers in my area. So I narrowed it down to two. With a trip to one Beckley's in Thurmont tomorrow.

Welcome from NW Florida. Our Grey Wolf 26dbh is 31.7 long and I was a little paranoid at first and when we got home this past Sunday it was a one time shot putting on the parking pad and I feel more comfortable now with it.

Welcome from Baltimore. Check out Keystone right there over the state line in PA on I81. They have done fair by me so far. They had the best price around on my Shamrock and was able to arrange same day repair for some items. Though they have my unit now for some other warranty items that I waited til the end of the camping season to have fixed.
Did not like dealing with Chesaco, way to expensive and i had issues with the service at the Joppa location. Not impressed at all with the Fredrick locations either. Can't speak about Beckleys as I have not dealt with them at all.
Good luck on your search for your RV.

Welcome!
As a former Maryland resident, Hagerstown and Glen Burnie, Be careful where you look and who you buy thru. That cute little dealer near the golf driving range on the south side of I-70 on the east side of Frederick are scam artists who will steal money out of your pocket when you are not looking.
PM Me and I will give you details if you are interested.

Good luck on your purchase.

We all go through that selection process & sometimes have to buy all over again. You might consider renting a Rockwood 2109S at APG. They have 2 available for rent & there are nice camp grounds nearby. It can help confirm what your likes & dislikes are when it is time to buy. Warning! It is getting colder here so they might have them prepared for winter, mine is.
