You might want to stay off Skyline drive as a rookie. Finding a camping spot around there isn't easy in the fall either on short notice. We just got back from there yesterday. Still very green.

Welcome from Western Maryland -the saner part of the state!

Enjoy the new TH... but, yeah, I have to agree - Skyline drive might not be the best place to start out.

Welcome from TX.
Best place to camp first is the driveway. Make sure everything works.

Davel1971, Dagrinch appreciate the heads up. Was reading about the tunnels and stuff after downloading the blueridgeparkway app. Can someone recommend a place maybe in PA for some foliage this weekend, just an overnighter to get our feet wet. Thanks again everyone

Welcome from Nebraska. You'll learn a lot out here
#1...we're all crazy about what trailer we like, what truck is the best, what WDH you should buy.
#2...If you have a question or problem, you'll get enough information that you stand a good chance of fixing an issue by yourself or some excellent ideas on modifications you can make.

Keep the sunny side up !

Welcome from another Marylander.... Not sure if there is any good color around here yet. I was just out to Hagerstown yesterday and South Mountain was still green. You may have to go up to northern PA, a little far for a single night.

The Blue Ridge Parkway app is great, but you do realize that isn't Skyline drive? Skyline drive is 105 miles long, is a National Park and there is an entry fee to drive on it. It ends at Route 64. Blue Ridge Parkway starts there and is over 400 miles long. Goes well into North Carolina. We did the first 70 miles of it this past Friday.

thanks Dave, you can tell Im a local lol and quick to say Skyline Drive. Been driving the first 50 miles or so thru the years. Never beyond that. Did pick up maybe 30 miles or so of the actual Blue Ridge Parkway when we were on scoots at Little Switzerland, Asheville area.

All depends what part of PA you are close to. There are several state parks in central/western PA close to MD... My favorite is Raystown Lake, Seven Points to be exact, which is run by the CoE. Gettysburg might be closer to you... I don't know.

Little Orleans CG out at Green Ridge is a nice little campground and the State Forest has MANY overlooks that are driveable. It's a beautiful area. Bring your bikes to hop on the C&O canal too. That is beautiful in that area this time of year.

True, and the leaves might start turning more since we pretty much had a soft freeze last night.👽
