Hello from Michigan

Well my wife and I have decided to move out of the tent and into a camper. So last week we purchased a 2015 Grey Wolf 23dbh. We'll go and pick it up in mid April and hopefully all the snow will be gone.

It's our first camper, so hopefully the learning curve isn't too steep. We have our first child coming any day now and didn't want to have to sacrifice camping. A newborn in a tent wasn't an ideal situation and this has been on our radar for a couple of (wet in a tent) years.

So hopefully we've made the right choice and will find all the enjoyment we're looking for.

Welcome from Wisconsin and congrats on your 2015 Grey Wolf 23dbh. And congrats on the new addition to your family. Yes there is a learning curve so just take things slow and easy. I'd suggest taking you shake down cruise someplace close to home. Or better yet if space allows in 'camp driveway'.

Congrats on your first camper but even more so on the soon to be arrival of your first baby! The good part about the learning curve with RVing is that most of it you can take at your own speed. Remember that questions are always welcome.

Congrats on the new camper and a bigger congrats on the new baby. I just bought my first TT as well and pick it up on the 3rd of April. I have 4 kids, first 3 all did the tent and my 4 yr old gets the camper..lol But I can tell she's my daughter, cause she keeps saying she wants to sleep in a tent sometimes too. So with that being said, yes you did good and you won't have to worry about being woke up in the middle of the night with a child crying cause they heard something outside. Crying cause the tent sprung a leak and their pillows are floating...lol Congrats again from Ohio and looking forward in visiting MI.

Welcome from Ontario. Congratulations on your new purchase and more importantily your new addition to the family. Likewise we went from tent to trailer, easy enough transition, when in doubt think of the last time you were packing up soaked sleeping bags and pillows.

Welcome, from SW Michigan. Congrats on the new "little unit", and on your new camper. Lots of learning curve with each of those endeavors, but the key is to enjoy the journey together! God bless your family.

Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes. We're both very excited about both of our new endeavors. And truthfully I'm looking forward to the learning curve, half the fun of anything new is learning how to do it.

Cyclepuck, as coincidence would have it my wife, brother, sister and more all graduated from Genesee. And my mom and stepdad were on Genesee Fire for a while. That was around 8-10 yrs ago now. Myself, I was military for a while then returned to Mi when I landed full time fire for Saginaw.

So you work with Dan Evans? He's great guy. Always camp near each other at fireman's.

Welcome from a North Eastern Michigan Camper. You will enjoy this a lot. We just moved from a tent to a camper 3 years ago and we raised 6 children in a tent before we did. The camper is the way to go.

I know where you are coming from with a baby in a tent. I've been at this camping thing a long time (although this is my 1st Rockwood) and in 1983 while camping at Porcupine Mtn's state park, a monsoon put an end to our tent days. Had to clean out the home built 'custom' van (I know, how 1980's), of captain's chairs to put up the mini crib for my 2 yr old to sleep in for the night.
We stayed dry and my son did speak his 1st sentence when he discovered "his" chair was missing saying, "Where's Matt's chair?" (Yeah, 3rd person). Four units later and no kids left at home, still love it.
Don't ever give it up, it is a lifetime of memories for your children and you as well.

Welcome from Huntsville, AL - and Congrats on the camper AND Baby!

can certainly relate to camping in a tent with tots - we actually did that for a period of years before we were done and bought a Popup! You're smart and skipped the popup phase most of us former tent campers have been through!

I swear every firefighter in the state knows that man. But no I don't work with him. Dan is a volunteer on the Saginaw Township Dept. I work for the City of Saginaw.

HSVBamaBob,

My wife's family had a pop up for a few years when she was growing up. Mice took care of the canvas and any desire to buy another. We both agreed that a travel trailer and a crying infant was the more courteous way to go for the rest of the campsite.

Is the State of Mi on here? Great place to be from. As far from....oh heck never mind Snyder can't help himself.

We are from Grand Ledge, oh sold that place, so during the summer months we hang out at site # 12 in Ionia at Alice Springs RV park and Resort on M66 a mile or so North off I-96. It's a fairly new park and real nice. If some of you are in the area stop in and say HI, real nice place for an overnight or weekend stay.
We spend our winters in Casa Grande AZ and really enjoy that. Not sure when we'll get back to MI this year because when we leave here sometime in May, we'll stop around Indy for a graduation of a grandson, then on to Branson Mo for a little FROG Rally at the ABC Camp ground with our FROGY friends and then a trip to MI to see Family then on to Goshen for the big Annual Frog Rally. Gee I hope diesel goes down and stays down. Am I asking for to much?
Then around Oct I'll turn the big F-250 around and head for the South West again. Oh this retirement is hard work..
This is just a little ramble from thetwoofus as we wait for Goshen registration to open. Have a nice Spring everyone, see you in Branson and or Goshen.
