Hello from No. California

We just purchased a 2014 Columbus 325 RL 5th wheel with a Demco 18k Hijacker Autoslide. We traded in our Coachman Catalina 29RL.This is our first 5th wheel and we will have a learning curve. We have not had it out on the maiden voyage yet since the weather has turned for the worse. As soon as it gets better we have plans to camp at an RV park with full hook ups near the dealership (since it is 2hrs from our house) to make sure everything works. We have had some problems hitching/ unhitching the 5th wheel from the truck at our house. I believe this is due to our driveway is canted left to right. We used boards to level the trailer and truck and this seem to help. Does anyone else have the Demco Highjacker Autoslide and would like to give some advice? Thanks. Anyway it is a great looking 5ver with lots of extras and we cant wait to get it out on the road. Also we had a satellite tech come and hook us up to Direct TV and he said the cable and satellite connections were wired opposite of what was labeled. I believe I had read about this problem on this forum in the past. Looking forward to warmer weather and getting on the road, Bob and Margaret.

I use the legs to level as much as I can then some chunks of wood.

Your fifth wheel head should pivot side to side enough to where the truck level would not matter.

With the wheels blocked just raise the trailer enough to take the weight off the truck, release the pin drop the tailgate and pull out slow.

Woops, Welcome to the forums....

It does pivot.

I wonder if the pivot bolt is to tight?

I misunderstood you, I know it slides and pivots, I believe our problem is with the locking slide bar and the king pin in which there is an adjustment which I have adjusted some. I will have to adjust some more as soon as I can get on some level ground and better weather, thanks.
