Hello from North Carolina

We just purchased our first RV, a fifth wheel 2013 Forest River Surveyor. Last night was our first time staying in a camp ground. So, that makes us newer than the average newbe. Im a retired veteran with 29 years USMC, my wife is a rookie, with only 23 years in the Navy, also retired. No doubt I will be picking all your brains with the many questions that will stump me. Im not mechanically inclined, so preventative maint will be my goal.

Thanks for all the warm greetings. I learned on day one not to blindly follow the camp ground guide to my "pull through" site. Missed a tree by just a few inches of taken out my side. Took me a few attempts to back out, and move to another non pull through site. At least I have a little more confidence of towing it anywhere. Next time, I recon the area on foot, then bring in my rig.

Welcome to the forums! Glad to hear that your RV is OK. An second set of eyes can be helpful too. In the end go with your gut and take what others are saying with a gain of salt. Remember the GOAL method - Get Out And Look. Also remember to look down too. On one trip I was standing by cousin's husband as he guided her backing into the site. As I looked down I saw what he didn't notice - the lack of clearance between the ground and the holding tanks and a wooden beam. Seems her site was on a incline.
