Hello from Odessa, TX!

Just thought I would pop in and say hello! I'm obviously new here lol. I picked up my new 2014 Rockwood popup two weeks ago, and our first trip is next weekend. I've grown up camping, and after adopting a 14 yr old boy in February, I decided it was time to start our own adventures. I purchased everything I can think of for the camper, but would like some input from you. (It's a really good thing Camping World is two hours away haha). So, what is that one thing you realized you needed your first trip, or the one thing you can't hook up and hit the road without?

Hey neighbor! I've been looking at state parks down your way. Everything around here with water is about dried up :/ I have reservations at Abilene SP next weekend, Lake Texoma Memorial weekend, and Galveston SP Labor Day weekend. Do you usually stay in state?

Hello from one hour east. Happy camping! You can make a short trip or driveway camp to make sure you have everything you need and that everything works.

We camp at Lake Colorado City SP for short week end trips. Lake is super low, no boats, but you can hike, ride bikes, shore fish or just relax. Balhmorea SP has that spring feed swimming pool. I will be heading there in two weeks to scuba dive.

Again, welcome to the forum

Wow.. Lots of locals! I haven't been to Colorado City SP in about 4 yrs? Fishing any good? Only got one catfish when we were there. Is the algae problem any better? They have a great covered fishing pier at that park, although I kept catching the ceiling with my pole...only thing I caught lol. My boss was telling me there (used to be.. maybe still is?) some nice spots in San Angelo near Nasworthy. I bought my pup in SA and wanted to check it out while we were down there, but we didn't have time.

The RV park at Nasworthy is Spring Creek. Make reservations well in advance. There is a KOA, but it is not on the water.

The fishing pier at C City SP is closed. The level is so low that the back is on ground and sitting at a bad angle.
