Dan & Rita You will enjoy the Pinery,just watch for low voltage at some of the sites. The beaches are long and sandy and Grand Bend has some nice little shops. Enjoy!!!

Ahh Glendale RVs

It brings a sad feeling when I hear there name.
They were all manufactured (hand built) in the small town where I grew up - Strathroy Ontario and a smaller plant in Alberta
Some of my friends older brothers worked there.

Sadly Glendale is now defunct - they went under in 2010

Barney, Yes we bought the Glendale three days before leaving for Newfoundland trip, First MH and newbies to RVing Boy did we have a good time!!!! Only two major problems, 1st was a seized AC compressor in Grand River( Local Ford dealer no help found small garage that were excellent people!!) 2nd lost all rear lights ( broken wire harness to back of coach) drove all the way home using hand signals. After five years with Glendale it is being traded in on new Forester.Sad to see it go but looking forward to new one!

@John3333

I never owned a Glendale I just grew up in the town where they were manufactured.

I was sad to hear in January 2010 they went bankrupt.

I just now grabbed some Google Street View shots of the Glendale Plant.
I thought I was going to show you pictures of a empty deserted plant, but Street view is stuck in September 2009 so this images are from 4 months before they went bankrupt.

This is the front of the plant - on the street on the right almost to at the far end on the good side of the tracks is where i grew up

This is 'The Yard' - it looks like quitting time the guys are leaving the plant

This final shot is the storage lot. As I remember it as a kid it was always full of units waiting to be shipped, but that is a child's memory. It is september I do not know what RV manufacturing yards look like in September.

There is some good news though the page I link to below describes Glendale's history. It appears that Heartland has bought the intellectual property of at least one of Glendale's product lines and continues to build the line.
