Hello from Pittsburgh, PA

Hello everyone!

The wife and I ( and 3 kids) are going to be signing the paperwork for our 2016 Forester 3011DS tomorrow morning. Never had a motorhome or trailer before, just a lot of tent camping. I think the learning curve will be pretty steep.

Hoping to browse around here and learn a few tips to lower that curve a little bit.

That would be nice. I am feeling a little overwhelmed right now.

Driving it is fine, that is the easy part, it's everything else that goes into camping with it that is crazy.

Welcome from Georgia! We just bought a 2016 3011ds 3 weeks ago. Taking it on our first camping trip this weekend to Stone Mountain. I understand feeling a little overwhelmed. Once you get that first trip under your belt , the confidence level should rise dramatically!! We had a 17 ft travel trailer for a couple of years, and traded up to the 3011ds!

Just remember, with limited space for storage, learn to live with the bare necessities! Put everything in that you think you might need, then take 3/4 of it out!

I use Walmart DEF, it's all the same. I keep a container also. I would also buy from a truck stop.

I scouted out local gas stations to see if there was plenty of room for pulling in and out. Just made my first refueling stop. No problem-glad to get that under my belt!
By the way, there is a rather large storage area under the middle seat of the U-shaped dinette. It's an unfinished area and not the most easily accessible, but can come in handy for stuff you don't often need
