i had purchaced the splendside 2000 non vented model (front loader) somewhere around 2000. (the old trailer was so old it came equiped with a rock....this was a great improvement).
the wash works well. the dry cycle takes forever. if u put 3 pair of jeans in it it takes all the time u can put on the dial (2 hr) and sometimes then some (i weigh 300 so 3 pair of jeans is quiet a load).
we use abt a tablespoon of liquid detergent then set it and leave. when we come back they are done. we usually have to wash something everyday to keep up.
once u get useto having one, u won't want to be with out it. ours broke abt 4 days from home and i had to use the laundry mat....u never realize how u get use to them till something happens. by the way, the problem turned out to be a broken female connector (side broke off). fix cost abt 15 cents and abt an hour time for trouble shooting and driving to the hardware store to buy the connector.
if it ever really goes out, i will replace it with another but vented.
we chose the all in one because we could still have half the closet in the bathroom. that would be the only reason i would choose all in one over the stacked pair. maybe one other reason, the electricity usage when we are on 30 amp.
i would really consider a stacked pair if the dryer would run on propane. don't know if safety considerations might stop me there. i would have to give it a lot of thought. (our home unit would go abt a month, on a what i call a 5 gal bottle. the home unit was much bigger and was used everyday...in other words, i wouldn't let the cost of propane stop me. especially for the reduced dry time and auto dry feature).
i don't think they have offered an auto dry feature in the all in ones yet or even if they can but that would be something i would really like to have. i believe the stacked ones has that feature.
to answer the question, it has worked out very well for us. so much so, we would replace it in a heart beat if it died.
