Hello from South Carolina

I have been checking out the site the last week or so after ordering our 2015 Hemisphere 282RK. I have read a lot of good info and hope to be part of the group for some time.

I have been camping with my parents since the mid 1970s in a 1975 Taurus 19ft TT. It was towed with my moms 1975 2D HT Chevrolet Caprice Classic (they bought both new in 75).
In the late 80s the trailer sat unused and was in ok shape but needed work. Did some tent camping for a few years, later on did some major repairs to the Taurus and started using it again with my own family in the early 90s.

I towed the Taurus with the Caprice up until 1998. In 1998 I bought a 1970 4d HT Chevrolet Impala (47k miles) and continued towing the Taurus with it until 2005 when I finally bought a new truck. We have still been using the Taurus up to this year. Most of our trips have been in SC, NC, FL.

Unfortunately the Caprice is long gone but I still have the Impala stored away with 102k miles on it now.

I have been think about getting a new RV since 2011 when I bought a new 2500 HD truck. I figured when I made up my mind to get a new RV the truck would tow whatever I decided to get.
Yeah I really didn't want to get away from the "comfort zone".

I also have a 1968 Apache Eagle pop top for short weekend trips. It needs a few things but is overall really nice for the year.

Soooo....now is the waiting game until the end of May or beginning of June for the new camper. We are planning to pick it up at the dealer in Ohio when it arrives.

I am excited about buying our Hemisphere camper and exploring new places. Although our children are 20 and 26, I don't know how much they will be with the wife and I, or if we really needed the extra room. But I am sure we will be glad to have the space when they do come along.

We have our annual trip to Ocean Lakes Campground at MB in June that we have been doing since 1975. I hope the new one makes it or we will be in the Taurus!

Wish us luck.
Tim

Welcome from Alabama, and to the forum. I would love to see picture of your Taurus. You may not need the room but it sure is nice to have even if you don't need it. I hope you enjoy your new RV when it comes in.

Thanks guys. I know we will be glad to have something new and more space.

I will look for some old pics with the Impala and Taurus together and post them in another topic in the forums.

Welcome from another 2011 Dmax owner in NC Tim! You'll love the folks on this forum. And that Dmax is a monster and will pull just about anything. Just had my truck and FW weighed this morning by a DMV officer today (did me a favor) and my entire rig dry is over 20K lbs. So, that red beauty of yours will do the job for you for sure!
