Hello from South Coast, Massachusetts
Hey, everyone.
I'm another new member. Looking forward to being more active in the coming months as my wife and I decide on a travel trailer. We're looking at Windjammers being towed by an '15 F150 Platinum EcoBoost 4x4.
This type of community gives us a strong sense of confidence with advice as we'll be living on the open road for at least 6-9 months exploring the US! No time like the present.

Welcome to the forum. Might also look at the V-Lite. Good luck on your search. Later RJD

Thanks all! Looking forward to getting our first trailer.
The truck has been ordered. I'm getting a 2015 F150 Platinum SuperCrew 4x4 3.5L EcoBoost w/ Max Tow and it should be here in 6-8 weeks. Excited to get it and then decide on a trailer.
We're looking at a few combinations:
Rockwood Windjammer 3065WA (7284# dry, 968# hitch) (34.58' exterior length)
Rockwood Windjammer 3029W (7263# dry, 918# hitch) (35.08' exterior length)
I've done a ton of research and have had so many people recommend either smaller trailers or an F250/F350+. Problem is, I'll be on the road for 6 - 9 months and also working from my RV, so a very small trailer just isn't going to work.
As for the hitch weight and towing capability, my payload should be around 1,500 pounds at least with the '15 model F150 and it has a towing capacity of 10,500 pounds or so. Of course, I don't want to be anywhere near capacity, so I'll be about 500-700 pounds under payload capacity (and possibly adding airbags to help my suspension) and about 2,000 pounds under the towing limit since we are doing full hook up only, so won't be carrying a lot of weight (e.g., minimal water, only two occupants, minimal clothes, etc. I estimate we'll add on 1,000 - 1,500 pounds when you add on propane, groceries, clothes, batteries, bicycles, etc.
Our trip will be throughout the United States. We'll be driving for 1-6 hours or so at a time, stopping, and setting up shop for a week or two before leaving and heading somewhere else.
Should be a pretty incredible trip!

Interesting, I'm going to check your trailer out right now. I'd rather be well under the limits if I can help it! Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm reading the specifications of it now. I see that hitch weight is 918 lbs and dry weight is 7,263 lbs. That's the same as the 3029W. How did you get it as being 1,675 pounds lighter? It looks like the 3029W and your trailer are identical in weight, layout, etc.

Wouldn't be the first time!
NEVER rely on website/brochure specs, especially weights.
Look at yellow sticker weights on the trailer itself.

Yep the other thing you have to take into consideration is the addition of propane/Battery. Later RJD

What will the propane be used for exactly and how big of a tank are they typically? I'm assuming just cooking and we'd have electrical hook up for pretty much everything else? What is the hot water, propane or electric?

You get two 30 pound tanks and one battery. Propane used for refrig when traveling. It's better to use the gas for the hot water heater also. Also if you should be camping in cool weather the heater only works on gas. It has an electric option but I never use it as one might forget to turn off as the switch is located out side compartment that has the heater in it. Gas has a switch on the control panel. Later RJD
