Hello from Southern Indiana
Hello,
we finally needed to sign up after many years of just using the fourms for information. we upgraded to a new Anderson hitch and it changed our towing experience so much we felt we needed to share. we are a family of 7 with kids from 18-1 and camp as often as possible. we look forward to being able to assist others and converse on subjects with camping frinds in the future. Thanks!

Where is there to camp in Terre Haute besides the KOA on the interstate.
I would love some other options...got tired of Boggs.
Hoping to try Shakamak this year.

Camping In Terre Haute
Well there are a few places in the area we use up there. We are not big fans of the KOA there as the two times we were there the staff was pretty rude to us...like they had a bad day or something.
We sometimes go about 30 min north on 59 to Fallen Rock Parke, they are preety good and the owerns are awesome. The park is not as nice as it used to be but it is nice none the less for short stays.
Closer to Bedford you have Spring Mill Park near Mitchell, IN and then Starve-Hollow in the Brownstown area that are both big picks of ours, and not to long ago we stayed at the Jellystone Park in Scottsburg and it was nice and the kids had a blast.

Camp often at spring mill. Being so close makes it easy to go to work but so hard to leave the camper.

We camp near Brookville Lake most every weekend. What kind of hitch did you have before? Nothing but good things to say about my Equal-i-zer.

Tired of Boggs lake, and Springmill state park (IN). Patoka lake is our most favorite especially 4th of July. Going there for 10 days this year. Watching fireworks from boat at Patoka is really nice.

Will be at Patoka this weekend. Saw they dont have water at sites. Should I fill up from home or wait till the park.
How bad are the lines to fill the tanks?

Wait till you get to Patoka before you fill water tank. On right side of road just after you check in. The campground has a number of water connections around if you are lucky (and learn) what sites to request. What we do during the week is everyone connects water hoses together and fills their tanks. This is a good way to meet your neighbor. No sewer connection you'll need portable dump tank. I hate that chore.
