Hello from the great PNW

Hi all -

Just a quick hello to you all - my partner and I are new owners of a 26' FR Cherokee Cascade, and are a bit overwhelmed with it all! We're both excited and unexperienced with travel trailers, and I'm incredibly nervous about backing up (she's not, but I'm the one who will be doing most of the driving and parking)! I have no doubt that I'll be posting on here quite regularly to ask questions and to share my own experiences over time. Looking forward to chatting with many of you over time!

Welcome to the forums from SW Idaho.
There are a few threads about backing a trailer so with a quick search and read you will get a better idea.

Big thing is "baby steps" take your time because there is no reward for speed records.

Hi Chris - welcome to the forum. You might give AAA a call or your local sheriffs office and ask if they have any local courses that can help. In my area they run 1/2 day clinics from time to time about safe towing techniques. Next find yourself a large parking lot and bring along some cones or markers (pool noodles work) and practice hitching, unhitching, leveling etc also practice backing up. You'll get the hang of this and reduce the fear factor pretty quickly.

Welcome and congrats on your Cherokee Cascade! Lots of friendly, knowledgeable and helpful people here willing to help you thru the learning curve. As far as backing goes you might consider hauling your camper to a church or school parking lot on a Saturday afternoon when they aren't used much and practicing. You'll get it, just remember we were all new to this stuff at one time or another.
