Hello from Union, Missouri

We bought our first travel trailer July of 2014. Started, like most, tent camping. Moved up to a Rockwood Freedom pop up. Had that for 5 years. Had good times. After 5 years setting it up, taking it down and then setting it back up again to dry out and then put it away again just got old. So we decided to start looking at a small travel trailer. We had seen many while out camping but had not decided on a brand name. First thing we had to do was sell our Dodge Dakota and move up to a bigger, badder pulling vehicle. Bought a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 (yah it's got a Hemi). Started looking at 18-20 foot campers. They were really not much bigger than our pop up when it was set up. Moved up to looking at 22ft then 24. My wife decided she wanted a slide out and the smallest we found with slide out was a 25ft. The dealership we went to had a 2014 28ft Puma for the same price as a 2015 26ft Puma. So my wife decided on the 28ft. But...as we stepped out of the 28ft, right across the aisle was a 2014 29ft Puma for just a little more and my wife liked that it had 2 slides and 2 entry/exit doors. She was sold. My concern was our pulling vehicle. We had originally purchased it to pull a 20 maybe 22ft trailer. After much research I learned my truck would be ok although if I knew we were going to go so big in our camper I would have gone with a 2500 probably with a diesel. Anyway...we have pulled our camper on 6 trips, several times through the hills of Branson. I keep regular service and my mechanic has not noticed any unusual wear on my tranny or rear end. So far so good. We really enjoy our Puma. We get plenty of compliments. Looking forward to our first outing this year the first weekend in June. Have been reading these forums for many years and finally decided to join. Lots of good tips from other members.

Congratulations on the Puma, and welcome to the forum, from another resident of Union, MO. Who is your dealer? Does Bill Thomas in Wentzville sell Puma?

We bought ours at Colemans RV in Springfield IL. I'm not sure about Bill Thomas. I actually could Coleman's through RV Trader. It was kinda far from here but they had really good prices. Oh btw...USN 86-92. I should have stayed in and did 20.

Welcome to the Forum from St Peters, Mo. Union is a good place to be for Camping, close to a lot of places. Nothing like setting around a good campfire with friends or exploring new places.

Nice!!! What is your tow vehicle? Where do you plan on camping? We have camped at some really nice Corp of Engineers campgrounds around Branson and of course at least once a year at Blue Springs to camp and float.
