Hello from Waterford. MI

Hello everyone!!! My wife and I are going to start traveling at the end of this year. That's when I'll retire after a 39.5 year run. Our first time as campers and we're excited at the prospect of traveling the country.
Any constructive advice would be really appreciated.

There is plenty of great information in these threads. Just do a search to find whatever you need. If you run into something weird, just ask. Someone will get back with you (usually numerous someones!).

Congratulations!

Welcome from Wisconsin. Lots of friendly, knowledgeable and helpful people here. Better to ask questions than to make mi$takes.

Try driveway camping for a couple of days if you can. Then try a couple of local camping to work bugs out.

When you get ready to travel, don't overpack. You can always buy things you find you need on the road.

Bring your sense of humor and have fun!

Thanks everyone for the warm reception!!

We took it out once a couple of weeks ago and discovered the water heater had a bad o-ring at the heating element and leaked into our bedroom. When we got home I took it in and it was fixed quickly. Other than that, no problems.
With the weather here in SE Michigan getting cold I think I'll winterize it this weekend to insure no broken pipes.

Joe and Darlene,

We are in Novi and thinking about camping next weekend and then winterizing. Don't forget about the outside shower (if you have one). Also if antifreeze gets into the heater it tends to smell like rotten eggs in the spring, make sure to use the bypass and empty the water heater via the plug/anode.

*if you use a compressor to blow out the lines (40psi max) don't take the water heater plug out under pressure - just trust me on this one

Thanks Bill, just got in from blowing out the lines. Just don’t feel comfortable with the water heater. Felt like I could still feel water inside when I stuck my finger in there. Probably me just being paranoid. Oh and btw, we got the cheap version, no outside shower. Lol
