Hello from Wisconsin

I love this forum. I've been getting tips and tricks from here the last 2 years. My wife and I have been camping for years....the first 20 in tents with our kids. Our kids are all grown up and off to college, so we bought our first Pop-up. Had that 2 years and realized I hated cranking it up and down, but loved the size and layout. We then went to a Forest River Shamrock 23SS Hybrid. Had that two years and loved it, but Memorial Day weekend we were driving home and my wife makes the mistake of saying "Some day it would be nice not to have to wait for the tent ends to dry in the morning to pack up".....so that put me into motion. Two weeks later we purchase a 2017 Forest River Cherokee 274DBH. Love it and the layout. We used it the last 3 weekends in a row, everything from full hookup to camping in a farmers field.

Although I love the camper, I do have to say that Forest River has some build quality issues. I've had it in twice to have warranty items taken care of. Luckily I'm handy to fix the minor stuff, but the majors were things that shouldn't have been missed at the factory. ie. Fresh Water tank installed crooked and crushed by deck, Water heater had no seal around it so rain water could come down the side of the camper and right into the storage compartment, water heater wouldn't stay lit on LP until control board was replaced. Lesson learned, if I ever buy a new camper again, I'm not pulling it off the lot until I've inspected every component and seam.

I hope to share advice to new users of the forum as well as learn more from the experienced ones. Thanks for all of the advice over the years.

Purchase from NorthPointRV. They have been great by standing behind it. They even squeezed me into service the next day, because I found the problem with the water heater on Wednesday night at 8pm and was leaving to go dry camping on Friday morning. I e-mailed the owner at 8pm and he e-mailed back 20 minutes later and said to bring it in Thursday AM. Besides just fixing the water heater that day, they fixed the fresh water tank and some other small items. I had only asked them to get the water heater working so I could go camping the next day.

He apologized that they missed this on their inspection, but I'm more upset that Forest River let it out of the factory that way. More focused on Quantity than Quality, I think.

Glad to hear you got it taken care of quickly. Make sure you keep an eye on your unit just before your warranty is up. After a relatively carefree first summer with ours, we've had a bunch of small stuff creep up on us.
