Hello fromOhio

Hello All,
Just wanted to introduce myself as a new member to the forum.
My wife and I are in the process of buying our first TT. Right now we are still undecided what is best for us. We have an '03 Silverado 1/2 ton w/ 5.3 liter and 3:73 gear. We are going to local dealer today to look at the 26RBSS.
We would really appreciate advice from those more experienced. Would like to hear from you all about towing (in general), benefits of smaller -vs- larger TTs, campsites, boondocking -vs- hookups, etc...
Hope to meet some of you on the road soon.

Welcome to the forums! Which line does the 26RBSS belong to?

Welcome to the Forum, It's always good to see other Ohioians here. Where are you shopping, and how did it go?

The 26RBSS is Flagstaff SuperLight.

We like the layout of this one and it's dry weight is well below our tow cap of 7500#.

Thanks BigDawg...
We took a drive to Kamper City but unfortunately they didn't have a 26RBSS on the lot. We're still looking for the right TT for us. We plan on going to the Hershy show in Sept. That way we can compare models side by side.

It's good to take a look around and find what you want. The shows are great to see the different dealers, and what they have to offer. Let us know what you decide.

Thanks BradinOhio,
It's reassuring to get positive feedback. We are considering buying from Kamper City.
Did you order yours from the factory or did you buy off the lot? I'm wondering what will be the difference in price if we have to order one as opposed to buying off the lot.

Welcome and we are also in Ohio.

Save yourself some future concerns, forget the dry weight number.
Use the camper GVWR, in the case of your example on the 26RBSS it is 6639lbs.
that plus the weight of passengers, fuel, gear you get to 7200lbs pretty quick. IMO I try to keep 20% lower than the TV recommended tow capacity, but that is me, you can find your own comfort spot.
You may want to try RVW, The Original RV Wholesalers - RV Sales, RV Parts, RV Dealer, RV Super Store Dealer, 5th Wheel, Forest River they are in Ohio (day trip depending on your location) they stock a lot of units, and since this is your first you do not have a trade issue so they may be your best price.

Happy camper searching.

Haven't towed anything with it yet. Only prob so far was after a car wash it shut down. I let it dry and it went back to normal on restart. The dealer says its a sensor that doesn't like to get wet.

Anyone out there with quadrasteer? Does it help much when towing? Anyone have problems with theirs? I can tell you the turning radius with my xcab short box is much tighter than my reg cab short box was.

Swaggler in my opinion (IMO) I would go as large of a rig as your truck can pull. Nothing worse then being out on a camping adventure and the whole time its raining and less then ideal out. You want the interior comfort to during times like this. Good Luck on your search and future travels!

We bought ours off the lot, as it had everything we wanted. They were also running a sale as the 2013's were coming out. Good luck in your search!
