Hello, new Wildwood this week.
Hello friends,
We have a site at a beautiful place in NW Illinois (yes, really, Illinois) The trailer sits on the site year round.
My wife and I bought a gently used 2002 Layton 38' bunkhouse 14 years ago and enjoyed our first TT immensely. We spend most weekends there and I hunt there in the fall and winter until it gets too cold.
Our kids are older now and simply don't want to hang out with us "old folks" all that much on the weekends. So earlier this year we decided we really wanted something with more living space so we shopped around and found a good deal on a 2016 Springdale 38FL which we thought was going to be the last trailer we ever needed to own.
Two weeks ago today I got a call from our Security officer at the lake that our camper had been totaled by a tornado. We took off of work and drove the two hours to the site and sure enough, it had been rolled over at least once and it landed on its wheels. Of course, the whole body fell off during its tumble and everything except for some clothing and shoes was completely destroyed. Our insurance company has gone above and beyond to get us right again.
The good news is this Friday we take delivery of a new 2017 Wildwood DLX 39FDEN that we instantly fell in love with. It has the open floor plan and other features that we had with the Springdale but it appears to be of better quality and the amount of storage space we got back means that it should be the last trailer we have to own. (fingers crossed)
