Hello , newbie here

Considering new toy hauler , possible Catalina Trail Blazer as they are fairly light and my truck is half ton. I know and I hear all the reports about towing with half tons. The Catalina GVWR is 7000 lbs. Dodge says my GCWR is 15,950
Max Trailer weight rating 10,360. GVWR is 6900 , payload 1780.

The Catalina UVWR is 4400 lbs. Does this seem doable or am I wishful thinking and pushing the limits'

Welcome to the forum. Check your door jam for what your truck can handle. Depending on options on truck it lowers your hauling cap. Later RJD

Your payload will be the issue. Pay attention to hitch weight and you will see you have too little truck.

Class IV hitch is rated for 1100 lbs. Max gross weight of trailer would be 7000. That would be fully loaded empty weight is 4440 lbs. 10 to 15 percent of 7000 is 700 to 1050 lbs. am I figuring hitch weight correctly ? As far as loading trailer to max capacity that would be an additional 2500 lbs. I don't think I would be seeing that .. more like 1500. Am I looking at this right ?

Well any way you look at it you are overweight before you go any further by your own calculations. New truck or smaller trailer, tough choice when you have your mind made up.

I had a 14 ram 1500 5.7. towed a hyper lite 29fds about 7k plus two Harleys from Michigan to bike week flordia no problem. then got a 8k pound 5th wheel and towed no problem. then upgraded again and needed a new truck. all comes down to you and how you are going to use it.

Just trying to understand .... GCVW according to manufacture is 15,950 truck GVWR is 6900 plus trailer max is 7000, total 13,900. am I not looking at this right or missing something ? As I said new to this , smaller trailer not a problem , thought 4400 lbs pretty reasonable.
