Helo from Southern Alberta

My family and I just purchased a holiday trailer and are very excited to start our lives as camping enthusiasts. We bought a 2012 Wildcat 29BHS. The dry weight on it is 6,500 lbs and the hitch weight is quite a bit, 920 lbs. The place we bought it from installed a equal-i-zer 4 point sway 1,000 – 10,000 lb weight distribution hitch.
Is this trailer too much for our 2001 Suburban 2500? It has the factory trailering option (brake control, class 4IV hitch, transmission cooler and temp gauge). She’s an old girl with 230,000 km (140,000 miles). We just had new brakes and rotors put on and a complete driveline service, including a flush and fluid change.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to sharing my experiences.
Oh, and we have a 2 year old. Any tips on keeping him safe and happy would be encouraged as well.
