Help with furnace

Camping in our new camper tonight for first time. New to RVing. Dumb question. It's cold and need to turn on furnace. Where do you light pilot? We have a forest river nitro XLR. After lighting pilot I assume just thermostat to heat? Thanks!

You should have an eletronic igniter. Make sure your fuel is on and you have power to unit and turn on at the thermostat.

If you're having issues a rv model and more info would help.

After tonite you should look at electric heater(s) as needed and save your fuel for cooking and the fridge.

Shouldn't be. Thermostat should fire it up. If it doesnt light you might have air in the lines yet. Is the stovetop lighting?

I believe the power to the furnace is 12vdc so that it works without 120vac. If you don't have enuf power in the batteries it might not fire up. Never had that issue, but if it isnt lighting you might have weak batteries....

just a question, didn't the dealer explain how to use the basic things, like the furnace?
if not, you didn't get a very good PDI.

x2, seems like a lot of dealers rush thru this step or some forget what they are shown how to use it.

Good reason to have the PDI recorded. If it was me I'd have a buddy videotape it while i focused on questions. Funny how the camera keeps the dealer rep on their toes, too.

Sometimes I forgot that winter isn't the same elsewhere as it is here in SoCal.

Thanks for the help everyone! Has a fantastic first trip in the new toy hauler - once we turned the heater on! Just one minor incident...bicycles not secured tightly enough = scratch on the Harley

Have been camping forever, just not in an RV. Our tech did go over the whole rig and I took notes, but everything was very overwhelming. Video would have been a great idea. Looking forward to our next trip!

I also had a really good PDI, took notes and pictures followed by lots of questions. At the end of the PDI we walked around refreshing my memory and I was good to go. It's afterwards that the mind is go to mush. So much information, so much to take in & remember even with notes.

Keep on asking questions here. We got your back.
