Here's a thought to make things friendlier
It might be nice to insert our first names in our User CP biography. It seems a bit nicer to refer to someone in a thread as Glynn or Joanne rather than "BigRig003" or "Palaminomiester". No last names or anything personal though, and just as an option.

You know Pete, maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Welshman sounds way cooler.

Hi...my names Wade
(the crowd responds...HI WADE! )
I got a brother named Wayne... I guess Mom thought that would be cute, like Mike 'n' Ike or something.
Whatever.

I've always had my name in my signature. It's just easier for members to view.

First name is good, I don't see anything wrong with it at all. It would be interesting to see how many people have the same name as well. In most cases our gender would be identified as well. My name is Wade.

My name is Jeff. I think it's a good idea, also. It'll help me remember it too.

Darn, you figured out my Real motive.... I figured when I get to that point in life where I'm a drooling old codger, at least I could go on here and be reminded that my real name isn't Grampie.
