Hey y’all from Central Florida!

I’ve been lurking and reading the FR forum for the past week gleaning many tips and absorbing ideas as we prepare to pick up our new Forrester 2251LE today.
Of course we’re very excited. Three years ago, right before I retired, we knew we wanted to travel extensively. We bought a Pleasure Way, Chevy based, Van. The “Sergeant Major” wasn’t too sure she wanted to get into “Camping” again. Over our 44 years of marriage we’ve had tents and a number of “Camping” RVs. The Class B came with 2 captain’s chairs in the back and was really made for traveling with occasional nights spent in the Van. After several trips it became apparent that we were pretty comfortable “overnight camping” in the van and enjoyed not staying in motels. We mostly travel and sightsee, rarely spending more than 2 or 3 nights in campgrounds. We did 20K miles in 2013 and about 15K in ’14 out on the back roads of America enjoying seeing our amazing country and some beautiful parts of eastern Canada. But alas, the Class B began to shrink! There just wasn’t room to carry even a meager amount of campsite comfort goodies. Our biggest complaint was the bed configuration that required one of us having to crawl over the other in the middle of the night to use the facilities. “Grope and Giggle” was rapidly losing its appeal. This long story shortened; we decided we needed just a little bit more room. Sold the Class B. Made a list of requirements for a new rig and shopped hard. Having adjusted to “living little” in the Class B we know we don’t require a lot of personal space. At just 24 feet, the Little 2251LE seems to fit all our needs and the only things on our “requirements” list that wasn’t met was a diesel engine and leather interior. Heck! We can buy a lot of gas for the $35K difference in price! ☺
We’ll be taking a short “shake-down” cruise this weekend. We can hardly wait to head North this Fall with the 2 standard Poodles we travel with. As “Leaf Peepers” we want to see the changing colors of the Autumn foliage. I will be occasionally reporting on the characteristics of the unit. I thoroughly enjoy the Forest River forum and will be checking in frequently.
