Hi All....new RV owner here

Hi everyone,

After long debates and much research today I took the rv plung and ordered a new Rockwood 2702ss. It should be delivered in 8 weeks and I am going to be counting the days. This is my family's first rv and we are looking forward to all the great adventures that are down the road.

Regards,
John

Are there any words of advise you guys can offer about the 2702ss. Like I mentioned this is my families first TT and can use all the help I can get. I have been reading this forum non stop now. My eyes are red and itchy because there is so much to read.

Congratulations on your new TT. That's a nice layout for a family.

The best advice I can give you is something you are already doing and that is to educate yourself. Get comfortable with the forum, soak it all in, and subscribe to those threads that are most interesting to you for later reference.

This is not specific to the 2702ss, but in general, I think new TT owners have a certain amount of anxiety with weight distribution and towing.

Learn everything you can about your particular setup (vehicle, hitch and TT) and get some hands-on experience in setting up or at least adjusting your WDH. You need to understand your weights and capacities.

Your TT is 32' long so practice backing, turning , etc.

Power systems often throw people as well because most new owners do not have a lot of experience with 12-volt systems.

You get a handle on those issues and you are way ahead off the curve and more than ready for your first trips.

Other topics you might want to search on that seem to come up with campers new to TTs are:
  • Extended Warranty - Make sure to buy the FR 2nd year warranty for $150.
  • PDI
  • What to buy/pack
  • Tools to bring
  • Dumping tanks
  • Roof maintenance
Have fun. Enjoy the anticipation!

Right now I am pulling my hair out over the WDS. I need to buy my own WDS because my deal wants way to much money for the equalizer 1000/10000 4 point anti sway WDS I want. My question is I have a 2009 Silverado and which drop shank should I get?

Good choice of hitch.

If you don't get a response here, then I would call or email Progress manufacturing. They are pretty responsive and should be able to guide you through the choices.

You can buy the hitch through RV Wholesalers for $445 delivered for free.

Called them and they were great. Told me what to measure on the truck and then he figured the 2702ss would be about 21" so a 3"drop 7" rise shank would be perfect for the setup I will have.

Welcome Glockfanjohn,
I use etrailer.com for a lot of items. Good prices and excellent service too. One tip for a happy experience is to get a pair of little walkie talkies so you can communicate with the person helping to guide you into a camp site. The driver can't always see the guide in the mirrors and with the radios you can let them know that. Make sure they look up as well as around for obstacles. Another good use for them is when you are going with friends you can let them know when you need to pull over or where the next turn out may be, etc. etc....

Best of luck to you and the family. Our family has been camping for many years and still love it.

Jim and Sharon

Adventure RV has good pricing. I have ordered a bunch of stuff from them in the past, too, including my P3.

Welcome to the forum, we are just up the road on I75. Sterling State Park in Monroe MI is a pretty nice park to visit. Nice beach and full hook ups. Good view of Fermi II.

Hi Cheryl and thanks for the name compliment. It comes from deep love of Glock pistols and the fact that I am a firearms instructor when I am not selling tactical equipment.

Jim....I am in that neck of the woods often for work. I actually made my Rockwood purchase in MI but over the other side of the state.
