Hi from Illinois

So we just became the happy, albeit nervous, new owners of a 2016 Cedar Creek 36CKTS. We ended up making the purchase while just looking at the Indy RV show. After we decided we wanted it, we realized we were going to need a bigger truck. So I have a deal worked out to purchase a 2005 F-350 diesel dually tomorrow, if not then on Monday. I am a bit anxious to learn the ins and outs of towing something this big.
We were towing a BBQ smoker behind a 31' class C, but now the dimensions have flip flopped.
Better get to becoming comfortable in it, as the wife wants to use it in March.

Welcome from Northern Illinois,
I have the same model but a year newer. I like it very much as I am sure you will too.
Leaving next week for the Daytona 500 race and camping in the infield.

Have the dealer provide you some driving lessons with the trailer and truck connected. My dealer did this when we bought our first 5er a 32' Ameri-Camp.

Now remember you are almost as long as a semi truck, you are at least 55' total in length if not more. So when turning always turn wide especially when you turn to the right. I always check the rear of the camper in the outside mirrors as I turn to see that the end clears everything. The camper will turn inside of the hitch pin as you turn and will not tag along like a bumper pull.

I would practice backing up and turning in an empty parking lot if you can find one; using plastic orange cones. These will help you to see how the camper turns and maneuvers around as you turn.

Have a check off list for both hitching and un-hitching the trailer from the camper.

Good luck and Welcome to the forum.
