Hi from Illinois

Hi! Im new to the forum. Im from Illinois and have a couple questions. I would like to take my 3 kids and go south in December for a month. We were originally looking at the gulf side of Florida, around Tampa Bay. We are wondering if the beaches of Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas are as warm as the beaches of FL? We are also wondering if it is less crowded and budget friendly in those states as well? What campgrounds are children friendly and have monthly rates? We have never camped in any of the southern states.

Welcome from Rockford, Il. There are several ways to find that info. Web is one. Just put the inquiry for weather for each area. I am putting together a personal data base for all state campgrounds and ammenities so when we go full timing we can have an idea of where we would like to go. A lot of work but as I am doing it, it becomes very interesting to see what is out there. Go to each state you want to go to and enter that area for your requests. Just a thought. And welcome again

Welcome to the Forum.

For beauty, the beaches of Mississippi and Louisiana can’t hold a candle to the Gulf Coast beaches of Alabama and Florida. I haven’t been to the Texas Gulf Coast so I can’t help you there.

Tampa Bay will be warmer than Alabama, Northern Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana. From what I’ve been told, the beaches of southern Texas (Corpus Christi to Brownsville) experience nice warm temperatures too.

Most (not all) RV parks offer monthly rates.

We like Sandpiper RV resort on Galveston Island in Texas. Great for a week or two, but probably a little pricy to to spend an entire winter there.
Sandpiper RV Resort - Beach Front in Galveston, Texas

Also, the area around Corpus Christi is nice.
