Thankfully that's a northern NJ thing. Stinks though, Seaside was the shore town I grew up going to. Now it's like a mini-New York City with all the clubs and whatnot. That show put such a stigma on our state - my wife is from San Diego, and when we go to visit anyone that hears we're from NJ is like "Oh, the Jersey Shore!"; to which we reply "Um, No!!"......
We get the same thing here.. I live in Amish country in Lancaster area. When I tell people this they ask if I know Lebanon Levi (Amish mafia). People need to get outside more...

Yeah, I guess the stigma of the area carries with us all. At least I can say I haven't been asked if I met anyone from the Jersey Shore cast.
