Hi. We're new!!

Hello there. First, let me introduce myself/us. My name is Theresa and my husband in Gary. We're from Oklahoma, near Stillwater. We are truly newbies!! We've never owned an RV before but have been talking about it for some time now. So, last week we bit the bullet!! We purchased a 2006 Forest River Wildcat 26FBS. It is in amazingly good shape for being previously owned. We purchased from a dealer so all systems were checked, which is great. The only snafu we noticed that was overlooked is the craptastic Concertone RV2004HD AM/FM/cd/dvd player. Well, the radio works fine but the cd/dvd player doesn't. I'm sure it got too hot and burned up the lens. As soon as I can figure out how to retro fit a car head unit, I will install an Alpine system that my son isn't using so we will be able to listen to CD's and my iPod. And we'll use an LCD tv w/ separate dvd player so this really isn't an issue. Well, at least I hope it isn't an issue!!

We are looking forward to our first outing to Keystone lake here in OK this weekend. I've been busy getting supplies and getting the trailer stocked for the weekend, so any tips are greatly appreciated. I've perused the site already.....great info here!! Thanks!!

Oh, btw......one question. The dealer told us we had to use a white hose for the fresh water. Why is that? I found a blue fresh water hose at Wal-mart.....will this not work?? Thanks is advance!!

Theresa

Color is irrelevant as long as it's a hose made for potable water. Most of those are white, but I've used blue ones too. You may still want a general purpose hose for washing the TT, flushing tanks, etc. You shouldn't mix those activities with your potable water source.

Also, you should get a pressure regulator to put between the water supply and your hose to protect the hose and your TT piping from excessive water pressure. I also like to use a backflow preventer as well, but that's probably optional.
