Hot water SW1ODE

Just bought a 1999 5th wheel and noticed the hot water switch for electric on outside of tank is stuck. Hubby figures we have to remove whole tank to change switch. Hoping this is not true. I'm sure hot water element is blown. Is there anybody who can help out on this one?

The switch will pry right out as it's only held in with two tabs (top and bottom) so to speak. The hardest part is working around the gas pipe, which it's behind. Once removed, there is only two wires connected.

If you do have to replace the electric element, might as well do it all at the same time (the switch and the element), and remove the gas flue

these links will help;

Make sure the breaker feeding the water heater is off when you go to pull the switch or element.
