Does anyone have a mileage log sheet form to use?

I forget to write the mileage down now and then so this is better IMO.

There has been some discussion on another RV site that speaks about these things - some pros and some cons.

As far as your original question - I keep a book in my TV that I log all the maintenance in.

I reserved a section of blank pages in the back of it for tracking the miles the FW is pulled, the date or dates, and the departure location and next destination:

Mileage of TV in ------ on --------(date) at ---------(destination).

Mileage of TV out --------on ---------(date) at -----------(destination) ---------.

I keep a sub total of miles after each trip, add them up when the page is full and carry the grand total on that page over to the next page.

It's a checklist item, so it gets done on each pull out.

Works for me and a lot less expensive than a hub meter.

YMMV

That would work also.

I'm a Dinosaur when it comes to computers,so I always revert to paper and pencil.

I keep it handwritten in a book; location, nights camped, and mileage each trip. Its totaled on this forum, see signature block.

I have a 2012 F-350 Power Stroke and I program my trailers into the trucks computer. I then set the break controller for each trailer then I just find that trailer in the computer when I hook up and the breaks are set and the computer keeps track of how many miles I pull each trailer.

I didn't know you could do that - having just one FW,the paper and pencil thing works for me.

Yea I forgot about the checklist. With all the pictures in the checklist I don't possibly know if you could hook up wrong.

Dumb question. Why would anyone even care about how many miles are on the trailer?
If you are worried about resale condition and layout are the only thing that matters.

Have kept a gas log on our truck since we got it, so I can, if necessary(or had the desire to) compile it for the trailer. Keep track of gas, mileage, date & location of gas station.

In my case, I learned the need and requirements to keep records of airplanes, both military and civil, from being in the U.S. Air Force, working for a major air carrier and finally from my being a FAA Airworthiness Inspector. If you have ever been employed in any of these occupations, you soon learn how important it is to know when a certain component was last replaced or who replaced or what manual was used to change it. You get this information from records.

So I guess it's just a habit with me to know when a tire was last changed and at what miles. Or to know when I changed the propane change over regulator, etc.

I also think that accurate records help when selling a vehicle of any kind, including RV's.

YMMV

Not worried about resale. Never said that. Just gives me a reference for use. Oh , that's also what the OP was asking for!

I keep a spreadsheet on Google Docs/Drive. I record mileage after the fact by using Google Maps, so it's not 100% accurate but it's good enough for me.

On it, I keep the following:
- campground
- site number
- who in my immediate family went (wife, kid 1, kid 2, I)
- who went along with us
- notes about the site
- notes in general about the campground
- date arrived at campground
- date left campground
- place the camper was located before hand (home/storage/prior campground)
- place the camper was taken to
- miles towed to the campground
- miles towed from the campground

I can easily total the number of nights I've camped, number I have planned for the year (I add trips to be), number of miles towed, all that jazz.

I can share a copy if someone is interested. I'll just have to sanitize one to keep my private info private.

Maybe it's just the aviation side of me,but I'm a bit surprised that keeping records regarding maintenance ( replacing RV components, repairs done, mods done, etc) isn't included in your reasons for keeping records.

I'm certainly not saying you should, but haven't some of you ever said " Gee I thought I just replaced that gizmo and now it's failed again" and wondered just when you last replaced that gizmo.

An additional note - ever noticed when you buy something, many items ask you to supply them with the date purchased, miles installed, etc. Thats for your protection (warranty) as well as the manufacturers. That information is a record.

I'm done with this, but I will say that if you don't like keeping records, don't buy an airplane,

Three and out

I'm on a three and out plan for both trailer and truck. Not much really goes wrong with them in three years.

Not even in the same ballpark. An airplane has an engine and all kinds of electronic and hydraulic systems.
I better start recording how many hours each lightbulb in my house lasts. (I hope you see my humor as this is not by any means a serious suggestion)
A pull trailer has tires and brakes which wear out by age before anything else 99.99 percent of the time. Oh well teho
