Howdy from Big Tex

Been lurking on the forum for over a year, but just now saw the note from the Mod, saying go introduce yourself.

Looooong time campers starting in my youth with my parents in tents, then a pop-up, then back to tents with Boy Scouts and continued with tents until I moved to Texas.

We went camping on a July 4th weekend... played hard all day on the lake, then couldn't sleep because it was 94 degrees at 2am. We gave up & threw everything in the truck & went home. Started shopping for a popup with air conditioner the next weekend.

The Starcraft Galaxy Popup served us well for 14 years, with 3 kids... finally my wife said hard side or I'm not camping with you. Last June we became the owners of a 2014 Flagstaff V-Lite 26WRB.

2 major trips now up through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan last year and up to Cedar Point (Sandusky) Ohio this past couple weeks. A single working trip up to Kansas for a week, and many weekends.

Miss towing the popup, but gotta admit, the conveniences (or is that comforts) of our V-Lite make up for it.

You could say that camping is in the family's blood. My folks and sister owned a campground for 12 years... that certainly has given me a different perspective in listening and helping them out. In the down system Snow-birded, and have been full timers for 15 years now. Oh any my sister is shopping to buy a new campground now.

Happy trails.
Larry

Hello and welcome from Arkansas. I went camping here one time..in a tent...in the summer...Lord it was hot. I got up sometime in the night...took the blower motor off my truck...the battery from the boat... and put it upside down in an ice chest...JUST TO GET SOME AIR!! So i understand.

My wife's youngest son was talking about boy scout camping...I was trying to figure how I could carry the trailer... Hmmmm.

Of the 11 or so years in Scouting in Texas, I took the camper with me 5 times. 4 times to Cub Scout family camp & 1 time to a Scout Trip because I went a few days early & made an early vacation at a state park.
