Howdy from Houston

Pleasure to meet this group! I spent many hours on this forum before buying, so thanks to all of you who really helped me determine what I wanted!

I picked the RV up on a Thursday morning, drove it 100 miles home, loaded the waiting gear and trailer with three motorcycles, and left for a four day weekend. Thanks to this and other forums, I was prepared for "New RV Issues". The trip was a success, my girlfriend LOVES the RV.

I'm an engineer, so solving problems and making clever upgrades for smoother trips are my primary reasons for joining the forum. I have certainly benefited from the posts here already, so I plan to share me knowledge once I have some!

Here is my first tip to share: Bolivar Peninsula allows overnight beach parking with the purchase of an annual parking permit for $10! Plan to check the tides for your intended beach days both a few days before and the day of your beach stay, to ensure that the spot you pick will still be beach when you wake up

Welcome from Arlington, Tx.
Lots of good information here on the forum.
Lots of great camping here in Texas.
Best trip we have made was to Palo Duro Canyon State Park, just don't go in middle of
summer.
Have Fun.

Congrats from up the road a piece. My mom and stepdad lived on Bolivar Penn for many years. Mom passed away a few years back, and stepdad just moved to Dallas with his son. We camped there a couple of times, but not on the beach. What a great place though. Welcome aboard.

Welcome from a fellow Houstonian! Our first trip was a little further up the coast - Sea Rim State Park which is about 6 or 8 miles west of Sabine Pass on the coast. Really an isolated spot so it was very quiet - at least in the middle of the week when we were there. We didn't stay right on the beach, but it was only a short walk to get there. I too am an engineer and have already started doing a couple of modifications (at least planning them out in my mind).
Have fun with your RV and welcome to the club!
