Howdy from Illinois

Just picked up our first fifth wheel after years of towing pop ups and trailers. Haven't taken it out yet but have to admit to being a bit nervous towing something nearly 40 ft long. Just take some getting used to but looking forward to future trips.

I think that pulling it home with all the snow we have would be preparation for anything you might see this summer!

BEWARE OF THOSE LOW HANGING TREES
Practice parking in a big parking lots so you get used to things

Mmmm. Newbie here also. Going home I look like an idiot dodging low limbs... Are trees getting shorter or are trailers getting taller?

Newbie with 5ver as we'll. Had 31' TT and could back it anywhere. This 5ver is taking a little getting used to. Best advice is to take it very slow when backing. I take the brakes off as well. This seems to help.

As a 5th wheel newbie in Nov 2012 we were backing into a great spot with a power pole right in front. We forgot to release the hitch and we over cranked it and popped out the rear window in our TV 2011 Ford 250 Diesel. $600 dollar lesson. We have gotten better at backing in these days. I do agree with the comment to practice in a large parking lot

The camping area at Blackwell Forrest Preserve is very pretty just wish they were open thru the week. Now that they have installed electric in the handicapped sites it makes it a lot easier for my wife to get around.
