Howdy From the Texas Hill Country

1st time Forest River TT owners as of yesterday! We'll pick up our Flagstaff V-Lite 26WRB next week and until then, count the days as a kid does waiting for Christmas...

I'm twice retired. 1st career lasted 30 years with the US Air Force; followed by a subsequent stint with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Wife is a retired Civiil Service administrative specialist and we're finally ready, after 41 years of planning, to travel the country a bit.

We spent much time studying and walking through many brands & models (Jayco, Evergreen, Aerolite, Hemisphere, Dutchmen and several others) before coming back to the TT we considered the exact standard for our needs. This forum was an awesome help. Obvious experience, knowledge, and truthfulness here tipped the scale to Forest River.

Thanks for letting us join in and we look forward to learning much more as we set out to fulfill our dream.

Hello, and to the forums. Hope you enjoy the stay, and learn a lot, and can teach others what you already know. Thanks for your years of service to our country, now hope you get some of it from the ground.

Welcome Scratch. Retired AF here also, formerly out of San Antonio. Now living a bit further east (up the road from Houston a bit). Where will you and the wife be going first, or is the planning that far along?

Congratulations, and have fun!

Howdy Ed and thanks for the welcome.

We're probably going to head up to Blanco State Park for our first jaunt over Labor Day weekend. From there, who knows?

Welcome Scratch...and good luck at Blanco State Park. We were there several years ago and I was sitting on a rock fishing and enjoying the peace and quiet when suddenly my rod and reel zoomed off of the rock and looked like it was being pulled behind a speedboat as it crossed the dammed up little creek there.

I watched helplessly until it sank out of site, and always wondered about "the one that got away". A couple of years later we stopped there for a night coming home from the coast and they had posted a picture of a 120-pound (plus) catfish caught out of that creek/lake. Now at least I know where my rod and reel went.

We love Blanco State Park and Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Part in Fredericksburg. Both make great areas to work from on daytrips all through the Hill Country.

HAPPY CAMPING - come on up to North Texas some. We've got some beautiful state parks...some really nice Corps of Engineer parks and some great private RV parks all around the D/FW area.

What a great group of folks.

Appears quite a few Texans frequent these parts. That's nice to know.

Thanks for the welcomes!

Howdy Jester! The wife and I spend a couple nights in Arlington each October as we meet a bunch of guitar pickers there at the Great American Vintage Guitar Show. We have a wonderful time each year, although, Pam takes my wallet away from me when I go into convention center to enjoy the displays.

Our highlight is Saturday evening when we have an Acoustic jam session at the Arlington Sheraton's 'Beach House'... Lots of 60s/70s and folk tunes as you would expect from us geezers. Sunday mornings are always bittersweet as we say goodbye to good friends until the next show.

HOWDY!!! Our daughter, son-in-law and two beautiful grandgirls live in New Braunfels. We'll probably move there one day. We're just off FM306 on the Lake's north side...

Heading out for Labor Day? We had planned on Blanco State Park for the shake-down cruise, but it is full (of course), so we'll head to Bastrop KOA instead. So much to learn; so much fun to look forward to...

We are not heading out for Labor Day weekend but we are taking off in the middle of September and going to Tennessee for 10 days. We meet some friends of ours from Chicago who also have an RV once a year for a camping trip. Have you ever been to Matagorda Bay nature area? What a gem of an RV park!! We like Kerrville for short trips, might find an openeing there! Its alot of fun getting a new RV and setting it up and learning about all the bells and whistles!
